Life at Wheaton College- Before Passage to orientation

Updated: May 1, 2022

paspaAugust 11,2021 was when I first arrived at America to attend college.

I arrived with excitement and nervousness. Excitement coming from the fact that I get to start a new life in the land of opportunity and freedom. But nervousness, was from the fact that I now have to start everything all over again, literally everything.

Unlike my other friends who went to state schools with high school alumni, I was the first one from our high school to attend Wheaton. With the concern of making new friends at college, I went to Passage.

The first day of Passage, I knew no one and that made me so nervous, I felt like I was thrown into a different universe by myself. I freaked out talking to people here, because I wasn't ready to talk to 'foreigners'.

Even when I met my best friends here, I thought I would never be friends with him.

But now after Passage, I met so many amazing friends that I feel so blessed to be with. The picture above is of me with my friends from our cabin. (Josie > Alayna > Whitney > Me) Unlike what I expected, I have made so many friends and they have changed me into a better person. Through Passage and through living in a residence hall, I was surprised how outgoing I am and how I get energy with hanging out with people.

Like in this picture I got to meet so many people just from the floor, making my college life so much fun and meaningful. Until the first week back from Passage, I just had fun without classes.

One problem that I faced was getting to buildings. The enormous campus was so overwhelming. I needed a Google map to go to any places on campus.

I graduated from a small high school with 40 people in our graduating class. But here at college, there were more than 40 people just on our floor.
